Dynamic Traffic Box

The DynamicTrafficBox gathers and links various traffic data, thus enabling dynamic traffic modeling. Based on this, an evaluation and processing system realizes dynamic traffic modeling referring to a traffic network graph.

The TrafficBox follows a modular structure and consists of an easy expandable basic system. The data exchange between the DynamicTrafficBox and other external data platforms is effected by means of an adjustable interface concept:

After aggregating different information databases, parameters for modelling and assessing the quality of traffic flow within traffic-related system components are calculated, including different environmental conditions (traffic infrastructure, traffic situations, events, weather and road conditions) and available traffic information.

The basis for dynamic routing

Referring to the appropriate routing service the road network is stored in a node-edge model. For each edge attributes are defined (e.g., road category, number of lanes, recommended speed) which describe the characteristics of the road segment. A multi-criteria routing is developed, in which both the current traffic situation and control strategies of federal authorities  as well as building sites should be included. The core idea is to model the different criteria in individual, edge-related track resistors on a graph resistance model.
